Water Damage Restoration
This was a job I got through the good folk at Malcolm Wrigley Insurance. Turns out that the laundry tub had been leaking for quite some time. The only sign was of a white powder substance behind the chest freezer in the garage.

Challenge
Find the water leak, restore all affected areas.
Materials used
Structural Timber, Spirit Level, Nail Gun, Bolt, Gib, Filler, Plaster, Paint matched to existing Wall colour.
This is the dried calcium that comes out of the concrete if it gets and stays wet. Once we started the job I chanced the damage for about 3m in all directions from the tub. It had rotted out the bottom plate and about 400-600mm up the studs. I cut the gib at the knog level and started replacing timber and as you can see in the photos there was a bit.
What you can’t see is the door frames had rot and had to be cut and spliced with new timber. Much like the termite job I did everything on this from start to painting the entire garage, bathroom, laundry, cupboard and toilet as the paint couldn’t be matched. While there some improvements were made by adding a small tile splash back.
Once the big stuffs done, these jobs take time as there are a lot of visits involved putting a coat of plaster or paint on per day.
