Furniture Modification

Challenge
Up-cycle a sentimental piece of furniture that extends it’s intended function.

These were both fun and had a couple of little challenges too. The main challenge with the table was to get nice tight joins between the new shelf and the tapered legs. Getting the angles just right to accommodate the different twist and movement of the individual legs meant that it was truly a custom shelf to fit only this table.
The desk also had challenges with nothing or very little being straight, flat or level on it as it had been ‘modified’ before. I cut the upstand off the back and laid it down to give more desk space. With my cuts being straight fitting it all back into something that wasn’t was tricky. The end result however produced a now flat and level desk which is far more usable than ever before.
